Estimated to be a $50+ billion industry in 2022, MENA is the fastest growing region for e-commerce worldwide with UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt being the biggest markets. The upside is huge with online sales being only 2% of total retail sales in the region, but the interesting part is that mobile commerce is estimated to be 70% of all online purchases. Our target market is online shoppers in the MENA region between the age of 18 to 45, mostly female shoppers but regardless of the stores or categories they usually shop for online since Wanapp will be aggregating all major online stores in the region for almost all categories. Online shoppers in the MENA region make about 8-9 online purchases annually with an average basket size of AED 550 Wanapp will rely mainly on affiliate marketing revenue within the app via deep links and coupon codes, so the social aspect of the app will amplify reach and increase conversion for purchases. Therefore, the bulk of the investment will go into app development and marketing to build the user base. We will rely on PR and content marketing, targeted influencers and social media marketing in the first phase of the project along with a referral program to build a sizeable users base enabling the launch of phase two of the app that includes the social aspect of it.
