With the video surveillance industry worth $23.6 billion in 2019, it is projected to grow to $68.34 billion by 2025, at a CAGR of 13.1% according to IFSEC Global. The applications and opportunities of surveillance systems are being transformed due to shifts in how digital data is acquired, analyzed, and stored. The statistics have shown that 69% of organizations do not utilize cloud-based technology, despite being inherently less expensive and easier to manage internally. Technological advancement favors the cloud, increasing viability in locations with slow bandwidths and enabling faster searching of clearer images. In addition to this, 73% of businesses reported no usage of facial recognition technology, due to cost concerns, unproven operational benefits, limited market application, and unfamiliarity with the technology.
