Competitive Advantage

About our market size, with only 2% of plastic waste being recycled effectively, the market size for plastic recycling was 265 billion USD. With our technology we can deal with ~63.7% of plastic waste. The market size is very hard to estimate, since this is a never before seen technology. Though it should be north of the recycling market size. Regarding our customers, we see various segments that are motivated to use our solution: (1) FMCG companies who are willing to create a “green company” image has already expressed their interest in our solution. We would degrade the plastic they use, upcycle it to PHA and commercialize it. (2) Communities (e.g.: cities, NGO’s) that aim for self-sustainability would use our solution to build a plant, degrade the plastic waste and use the end-product (biogas) as energy source. (3) Waste management companies who are looking for more effective degrading solutions. Regarding the business viability we have identified the major players in the plastics industry and their pain points. In the first stage we aim to focus on the most immediate pains. As we see it FMCG companies have the most immediate pain. Their brand is instantly associated with the plastic issue.

Revenue Model Description

As we have discussed, our aim is to be a “know-how” company, therefore we plan to supply them continuously with our bacterium cocktail and the medium. If our solution proves to be useful for a certain company, they will “spread the word”, multiply and advertise our solution on the market. We plan to open to the B2C market as well to satisfy the future upcoming needs of that area. In the recycling industry there are many active players on the market. However, there are only a few whose solution is both economically friendly and scalable, thus being trustworthy is a critical success factor. We aim to prove our reliability by creating strategic alliances with non-profit research companies such as the REVOcean or the Ocean Cleanup initiatives. By receiving positive results from this segment of the market, we can approach for-profit polluter companies in the above mentioned segments (e.g.: fmcg). After we have set up the planned industrial plants, we will sell the endproducts from the degradation, namely biogas and bioplastics generated.
